Taking photos alone? Handing your phone to someone who doesn't know how to direct you? Voice Coach solves both problems. It speaks each step of a pose out loud, guiding your body into position like a photographer would — except it's built into your browser.
No earbuds required. No apps to download. Just tap a pose, tap Voice Coach, and listen. Here's exactly how it works.
Voice Coach uses the Web Speech API built into your browser to read pose instructions aloud. Each pose in PoseOverlay has 5–6 carefully written coaching steps — the same kind of direction a professional photographer would give you on set.
When the final step plays, the app auto-captures a photo so you don't have to fumble for a button. Your hands stay exactly where the pose needs them.
How to Use It (3 Steps)
Step 1
Choose a pose
Open the app and browse the 12 categories. Tap any pose card — Solo, Couple, Graduation, Travel, whatever fits your moment. The overlay appears on your camera feed.
Step 2
Tap the Voice Coach button
Look for the 🔊 Voice Coach button at the bottom of the screen, or find it in the Feature Hub (the ⚡ icon). Tap it and the coaching begins immediately. You'll hear the first instruction within a second.
Voice Coach uses a natural-sounding voice at 0.92x speed — slow enough to follow, fast enough to feel natural.
Step 3
Follow the spoken steps
The coach walks you through 5–6 steps. Something like: "Turn your body 30 degrees to the right… Slide your right hand into your pocket… Tilt your chin down just a little… Relax your face. Slight smile… Perfect. Capturing now." On the final step, the photo is auto-captured.
Pro Tips for Best Results
Use a prop or ledge to hold your phone
Lean your phone against a water bottle, stack of books, or any stable surface. Set the timer or use Voice Coach — either way, both hands are free for posing.
Works with AirPods and Bluetooth speakers
Voice Coach uses your device's native speech output. If you're connected to AirPods, the instructions play through them — great when posing in public and you don't want everyone hearing your coaching.
Pair it with Stranger Mode
If someone else is holding the camera, Stranger Mode shows a simplified interface with a big countdown and the pose overlay. The photographer just holds the phone — Voice Coach does the directing.
Features That Pair With Voice Coach
Stranger Mode — hand your phone to a stranger and let Voice Coach do the directing. Pose Match — see a live score of how closely you're matching the pose while Voice Coach guides you. Daily Challenges — complete the daily pose challenge with voice guidance for the best score.
