How to Use Copy This Pose in PoseOverlay
Saw an incredible pose on Instagram? A magazine cover that you want to recreate? Copy This Pose lets you import any photo, extracts the body pose using AI, and turns it into a matchable overlay on your camera. It's reverse-engineering a pose from any image.
What Copy This Pose Does
Copy This Pose takes an image you upload, runs it through TensorFlow.js MoveNet to detect the body keypoints, and converts them into a PoseOverlay skeleton. That skeleton becomes your new overlay — appearing on your camera just like any built-in pose. You can then use Pose Match to score yourself against it.
How to Use It
Step 1
Tap Copy This Pose in the Feature Hub
Open the Feature Hub (⚡) and tap 📷 Copy This Pose. A file picker opens — select any photo from your camera roll or downloads.
Step 2
Wait for AI extraction
MoveNet processes the image and extracts the body keypoints. You'll see a preview showing the detected skeleton overlaid on the source image. If the detection looks good, confirm it.
Step 3
Match the extracted pose
The extracted pose becomes your active overlay. Match it on your camera, use Pose Match for scoring, or activate Voice Coach (though custom poses won't have voice steps).
Tips for Best Results
Use photos with clear, full-body poses
MoveNet needs to see the full body — or at least most of it. Closely cropped headshots won't give enough keypoints for a useful overlay.
Single person works best
If the source image has multiple people, MoveNet will detect the most prominent person. For best results, use images with a single subject.
High contrast helps detection
Clear contrast between the person and background improves keypoint detection accuracy. Avoid images where the person blends into the background.
